Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Communications, Influencer Relations & Communications Specialist will be responsible for tasks within the following four areas of focus:

  • Influencer Relations
    • Develop and sustain strong relationships with local influencers while maintaining MLSE’s influencer database.
    • Identify and vet new influencers for campaigns.
    • Create strategic influencer campaigns to amplify key initiatives across diverse audiences. Processes include but are not limited to, strategy development, contracting, negotiation, brief development, and content review.
    • Oversee freelancers for the execution of partner-related influencer campaigns.
  • Media Relations
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local media.
    • Identify unique storylines and media moments supporting key initiatives.
    • Draft and distribute media materials (press releases, media advisories, media pitches, key message documents).
    • Support interviews, press conferences, and media events.
  • Tracking and Reporting
    • Compile media coverage results using Meltwater.
    • Compile influencer results on a campaign-by-campaign basis.
    • Oversee monthly trackers for influencer content.
    • Draft coverage reports.
  • Leadership
    • Oversee the intern selection process.
    • Work with interns to develop clear goals and continuously provide opportunities for growth and learning.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-4 years experience in a PR/communications or influencer marketing role.
  • Diploma/degree/post-graduate from a public relations/communications or related field post-secondary program is required.
  • Expertise in influencer marketing and have strong contacts with local influencers (ideally in the sports, lifestyle and entertainment sectors).
  • Expertise in media relations and strong contacts with local media (ideally in the sports, lifestyle, and entertainment sectors).
  • Comfortable with social media platforms, software tools, technology, and digital trends.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; comfortable and confident with public speaking.
  • Agency PR experience is an asset.
  • Proven to perform well under pressure; manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong research and organizational skills; ability to meet tight deadlines and to work effectively in a position with multiple dependencies.
  • A team player with good judgment and decision-making skills; high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with high-profile individuals.
  • Familiarity with Meltwater and Klear as an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as required.
